Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 29, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Tap Early ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Tap Early mobile app collects, how it is stored, and how it is used. Using Tap Early requires a personal account — all of the training, game-plan and chat data you create in the app is tied to that account and synchronised to our backend so it is safely backed up and available on every device you sign in on.
Tap Early is free to use with optional paid features through Tap Early Pro. This policy covers both the free app and Pro.
2. Your Account
To use Tap Early you create an account. You can sign up and sign in with:
- Your email address and a password
- Sign in with Apple
- Sign in with Google
2a. What We Receive From Social Logins
When you use a social login we receive your email address and a unique provider ID. We do not receive your password or any other information from Apple or Google beyond what is needed to identify your account.
3. Information You Provide
Tap Early stores the following information that you choose to enter:
- Account data: email address and (for password sign-up) a securely hashed password
- Profile data: name, belt rank and stripes, academy, training frequency, gi preference, weight (optional), date of birth (optional)
- Training data: logged sessions, mood and energy ratings, notes
- Game-plan data: tracked positions, techniques, weekly focus, confidence ratings, your own notes
- Competition data: upcoming competitions, prep notes, historical results
- Chat history with the AI coach
- Weight-management data (Pro): weigh-ins, target weight, and competition dates you log
- Video clips you choose to upload for AI roll analysis (Pro, or the one-time free preview during onboarding)
- Subscription status: whether your account is on the free plan or Tap Early Pro
- A rolling summary of older coach messages, so the coach can remember context without re-sending the full transcript every time
- Optional profile picture (kept on-device only)
4. Where Your Data Lives
Your account credentials (email or Apple/Google provider ID) are stored on our backend, which runs on Supabase. Supabase hosts our services on infrastructure located in the European Union. All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS) and your data is stored securely at rest.
Because an account is required to use Tap Early, the content you create inside the app — profile details, training sessions, game-plan positions and techniques, weekly focuses, competition records and chat history with the AI coach — is synchronised to your account on that same Supabase backend. This is what lets you pick up where you left off on another phone after signing in with the same account. Row-level security policies scope every row to its owner, so only you can read or write your data.
Video clips you upload for AI roll analysis are stored in a private Supabase Storage bucket tied to your account. They are used only to generate your analysis and are not shared publicly.
Your profile picture (if you set one) is never uploaded to our servers and always stays on your device only.
You can review Supabase's privacy practices at https://supabase.com/privacy.
5. AI Coach (Text) & Third-Party Processing
When you send a message to the AI coach, or when the app generates a description, summary or game-plan suggestion, we send the request to a server we operate which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. The data leaving your device for that single request includes:
- The message or instruction we are sending
- Recent chat history relevant to the request
- Coaching context (your belt, training frequency, currently tracked positions and techniques, weekly focus, frustrations you described during onboarding)
5a. What We Do Not Send to the AI
We do not send your name, email, location, profile picture, weight, date of birth, or any device identifier as part of these requests. Anthropic processes the request to generate a response and, per their data policy, does not use the request content to train their models. Their servers are located in the United States. You can review Anthropic's privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
6. AI Video Analysis (Pro)
When you upload a roll clip for AI video analysis, the clip is uploaded to our Supabase Storage and processed on a server we operate, which forwards it to Google's Gemini API for analysis. The data involved includes the video clip you selected and coaching context you provide (belt level, gi preference, session type, optional focus notes). We do not send your name, email, or device identifier with the video.
Pro users have a monthly limit on video analyses. A one-time free preview may be offered during onboarding before you subscribe.
7. Tap Early Pro & Payments
Tap Early Pro is an optional subscription. Payments are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — we never see or store your credit-card or bank details.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and verify your Pro status. RevenueCat receives your app user ID, subscription status, and purchase history from the store.
8. Error Reporting
We use Sentry to collect crash reports and technical error logs so we can fix bugs. Sentry may receive device type, operating-system version, app version, and a stack trace when something goes wrong. We do not intentionally send your training content, chat messages, or video clips to Sentry.
9. What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not run advertising or share data with ad networks.
- We do not use third-party analytics beyond crash and error reporting (see section 8).
- We do not request your location.
- We do not access your contact list.
- We do not send remote push notifications. Optional training reminders and coach nudges are scheduled locally on your device and can be turned off in Account Settings.
10. Photo, Camera & Microphone Access
If you choose to set a profile picture, the app asks for permission to access your photo library or camera. The selected image is stored on your device only and is never uploaded to our servers.
For AI video analysis (Pro), the app may ask for camera, photo-library, and microphone access so you can film or pick a roll clip. Only the clip you choose is uploaded.
11. Your Rights
You have full control over your data. From inside the app you can:
- Export your training data as a shareable report at any time
- Delete your account from Account Settings. This permanently removes your account and all synced data from our backend, and wipes the copy on this device in one step.
- Edit your profile information at any time
11a. GDPR Rights
If you are based in the EU/EEA or UK, you also have the right under the GDPR to access, correct, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
12. Children's Privacy
Tap Early is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app and provided personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will publish any changes inside the app and update the "Last updated" date above.
